BRUCE B. SAARI, Ph.D. - EXECUTIVE COACH
Dr. Bruce Saari has thirty years of experience in all areas of Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He has served as a consultant to business, industry and government, and he has held director and vice presidential level positions in a Fortune 25 corporation.
He brings a breadth of personal experience to both problem solving and implementation challenges associated with human resources management, organizational design and development, executive coaching and executive team performance.
Since 1992, Dr. Saari's work has focused on increasing organizational effectiveness by improving the performance of individual executives and executive teams. He specializes in:
- Designing and implementing executive development and succession planning systems to meet Boards of Directors' governance requirements for executive level succession strategies.
- Diagnosing executive team performance and providing targeted team and organizational development support to enhance the performance of executive teams.
- Individual executive development through coaching and development planning.
Dr. Saari has provided these services to clients such as Bank One, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, ExxonMobil, Baylor Health Care Systems, M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center, Northrup Grumman, Quaker Oats Corporation, Sears Roebuck, Siemens Financial Services and University Community Health System.
During his consulting experience, Dr. Saari has worked with both profit and not-for profit organizations, as well as with state and local government agencies. In addition to an extensive number of successful, senior level executive coaching assignments, his work has also encompassed virtually all aspects of Industrial and Organizational Psychology including job analysis, test validation, survey development and survey feedback, compensation system design and management training, organizational design, market research and individual testing, assessment and feedback.
Some of Dr. Saari's most recent engagements include:
- Coaching a financial services executive who is transitioning from managing less than 500 employees, to successfully leading an organization of more than 12,000 employees in a global unit of one of the largest financial institutions in the world.
- Assessing and coaching high-potential executives in multiple countries and cultures to prepare them for divisional and corporate leadership roles.
- Advising the CEO's of hospitals and health care entities regarding succession issues, development of executives, operational issues associated with leading professionals within organizations, as well as modifying their own leadership style to achieve specific organizational goals and objectives.
While in private industry, Dr. Saari served as Vice President of Personnel Resources and Vice President of Employee Relations in the Pepsi-Cola Company. In the first of these roles he had responsibility for the design, development and implementation of all personnel-related systems and programs for Pepsi-Cola. In the latter role, he oversaw the day-to-day personnel management issues for a division of over 8,500 employees spread across thirteen states. During his tenure at Pepsi-Cola, he designed and implemented a wide range of personnel management systems and served as the leader of the organization's executive development and succession planning efforts.
